Colour and the mesmerising palette of precious and semi-precious stones has always been a boundless source of inspiration for me. It has the magical ability to breathe life into everything, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. In a perfect world I try to choose my holiday destinations according to places where I can find wonderful gemstones first hand. Rarely do I know exactly what I am going to design with the stones that I buy, but like a magpie, there is nothing better than collecting extraordinary mouthwatering gems that despite everything, the earth produces. Even more exciting is revisiting my collection of stones and designing a piece of jewellery around an individual stone which makes it come to life.

I always knew when I designed Knuckle that there was so much opportunity to transform the ‘Everyday’ into the truly ‘Exceptional’ and what better way to incorporate some of my hoard of delicious stones. I want women to wear their jewellery everyday, I want to encourage them to wear their huge glamourous cocktail rings to a party, but also to pair them simply with a pair of jeans to give these wonderful stones and pieces of jewellery a chance to shine, to take them out of the box and into the light.

I don’t design with seasonality in mind or create seasonal collections, but I’m undeniably inspired by nature. I love the idea of reflecting the changing seasons in some of my designs. As the days grow shorter and we move toward the end of the year, I really enjoy nature’s milestones—collecting conkers, watching the leaves turn, and marveling at the first frost. The Knuckle Dust design, in particular, is inspired by the glisten of winter frost and the delicate dusting of snow on the trees before settling, our signature Knuckle Collection has been given a dusting of diamonds.
